This year's honourees represent the absolute best of developmental healthcare in Canada—changemakers championing family-centred care, accessibility and inclusion, youth engagement, research innovation, equity, and care delivery in remote communities.

“The 2026 EKO Tribute Award recipients carry on what has become a uniquely Ontario tradition,” says EKO President & CEO Jennifer Churchill. “The Tribute Awards are EKO’s oldest and most prestigious means of thanking those who transform developmental healthcare, who set unprecedented new standards, and who are dedicated to an environment where all can feel valued and respected, treated fairly and given a seat at the table.”

We are proud to announce the 2026 EKO Tribute Award recipients.

EKO Tribute Award for Leadership

When Patty Douglas began working on her PhD, focusing on care and autism, she felt that there was something wrong with the way we talked about youth with autism. She had been working as a special education teacher and one of her sons lived with autism. EKO Tribute Award for Partnership

Nadia Hamilton always imagined a life in service of her community. After graduating university with a degree in political science and history, she thought of a career in the military or policing. While spending time with her brother Troy, who is neurodivergent, she became frustrated by the systemic barriers and lack of opportunities he faced. She channeled that frustration, determined to create a bridge “from the couch to the community” for those like Troy who must navigate what is so often an inaccessible world ...
