Meet the 2025 Empowered Kids Ontario Scholars
September 10, 2025

Empowered Kids Ontario-Enfants Avenir Ontario (EKO) is thrilled to announce our EKO Scholarship recipients for 2025.
These remarkable young people are on the path to success as they’re enrolled in colleges and universities across the country. The 2025 EKO Scholars are studying chemistry and earth sciences, social work, computer science, museum studies, mechanical engineering, finance and mathematics, as well as English and commerce.
“At EKO, we believe every young Ontarian deserves an equal shot at success. By supporting promising young people, we’re helping to break down the barriers that far too often prevent individuals with disabilities and developmental needs from achieving their goals as members of the workforce,” says EKO Chair Tina Langlois.
EKO has awarded each 2025 EKO Scholar $3,000 to support them with their academic journeys.
“Empowerment is the heartbeat of everything we do,” says EKO President & CEO Jennifer Churchill. “Through our scholarship program, we’re not just supporting education and career goals—we’re helping ensure kids with disabilities and developmental needs can dream big and build a future that reflects their potential.”
Each of our 2025 EKO Scholars has the potential to accomplish greatness within their areas of interest. Will Tomlinson’s drive to innovate has won him many science fair competitions. Andrew Poirier’s knack for being crafty and charitable has raised $13,000 for Wounded Warriors Canada’s pet therapy program. Sable Pryznyk’s way with words and leadership ability landed her EKO’s award dedicated to a student who identifies as having a communication disorder or uses AAC, which is fully funded by the now dissolved Ontario Association for Families of Children with Communications Disorders.
