EKO seeks candidates for volunteer Board of Directors

July 07, 2022

Empowered Kids Ontario-Enfants Avenir Ontario (EKO) is seeking volunteer leaders to join our Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning November 2022.

EKO is a federally incorporated registered charitable member organization dedicated to kids with disabilities living their best lives. A member of the Children’s Health Coalition, a collective of Ontario’s leading children’s health organizations, EKO represents a growing membership of publicly-supported child development and rehabilitation agencies, and is the provincial voice for evidence-based insights on policy, programs and investment in the sector.

Dedicated to the association’s mission, our Board Directors champion the importance of exceptional board leadership. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the association and the sector.

The Board is looking for leaders who share a commitment to our mission, vision and values, and who bring skills and experience in one or more of the following:

  • Experience in or understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, auditing and/or analyzing financial statements, managing strategic direction, financial performance, and the risk management needs of an organization

  • Expertise or background in Ontario’s K-12 Education system as an administrator, policy maker, researcher or teacher

  • Not for profit management

  • As a client, caregiver, researcher, service provider, or policy maker in the child development sector.

We strive to live our culture as an organization and to that end, we are recruiting for cultural contribution. EKO welcomes the unique contributions that candidates can bring in terms of their professional and lived experience, and encourages applications that represent the communities they serve. We invite participation from a variety of backgrounds with an interest in moving our mission, vision and values forward. In particular we encourage perspectives of Indigenous, Black and People of Colour, Trans, Non-Binary, LGBTQ2S.
